The United Arab Emirates government has officially lifted the visa restrictions previously imposed on Nigerian citizens, effective immediately. This development was announced by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, following a Federal Executive Council meeting chaired by President Bola Tinubu.
Idris confirmed that an agreement has been reached between the Nigerian government and UAE authorities, allowing Nigerian passport holders to travel to the UAE without any hindrance. He stated, “I can tell you that the agreement has been reached and effective from today, Nigerian passport holders intending to travel to the UAE are able to do so.”
The minister further advised Nigerians seeking detailed information on the updated UAE visa conditions to visit documentverificationhub.ae.
In his briefing, Idris emphasized the significance of this development: “You are aware that Nigeria has been discussing with the United Arab Emirates the issue of visas for Nigerian passport holders going to the United Arab Emirates. Today, an agreement has been reached on that, and effective from today, 15th July, Nigerian passport holders are able to obtain visas to go to the United Arab Emirates.”
A formal statement detailing the agreement and new visa issuance process will be released later today.
This agreement marks a significant improvement in travel relations between Nigeria and the UAE, providing new opportunities for business, tourism, and other forms of travel for Nigerians.
