The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has firmly dismissed reports circulating in some online publications that Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen has been banned from the national team following his recent social media outburst.
NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, expressed astonishment at these claims, clarifying that no such decision has been made or is even under consideration.
“The NFF urges the media to collaborate with us in resolving issues constructively and to maintain a focus on the broader picture, rather than inflaming situations unnecessarily,” Dr. Sanusi stated.
He emphasized that no official communication regarding a ban on Osimhen had been issued by the NFF, criticizing those spreading the false information. “Our current priority is to address all matters concerning the Super Eagles, ensuring we are well-prepared for the 2025 AFCON qualifiers and the remaining matches in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification series.”
Dr. Sanusi concluded by calling for an end to the dissemination of falsehoods, highlighting the importance of maintaining a positive and truthful narrative in the public domain. “This is not the time to spread falsehood and foul the public space further,” he said in a statement released by the NFF media unit.
